Lake Fork Fishing Report April 2nd,
Water Temp 67
Conditions: Rainy and North wind...
Depth: 4-9'
Jack the ripper (that rain was cold so we had to bundle up) and I... were able to get out for a few hours in the evening to see how the rain affected the fishing...well looks like a lot of bass are off the nests...(at least where we were) We fished the middle of Little Caney for a bit and didn't get a bite but did see a guy on shore catch a 2-3lber on a chatterbait...There were 4 other boats in there and didn't see anyone catch anything...so we left and went south..we found some protected coves from the blowing North wind and found fish in 4-8' of water on ledges with hydrilla...I missed a bigger fish that broke my line on the hookset.. (I was testing out 14lb fluoro..I think I need to go back up) and we both caught a few small bass... Jerkbaits and weightless senkos. I could see big ones out there( I saw one on active target that was an absolute hoss..10+ easy but mainly saw 2-5lber signatures in the area I was fishing) but the big ones were not actively eating what we were throwing...They just ignored it..tried a ton of different baits to get them to react...they would follow gingerly or not react at all... those older fish are smart... If you are fishing the big bass splash this weekend. Good luck!
