Fished Lake Athens for just the afternoon... Talked to a few boaters and they said it was fishing slow... Bass have moved up into spawning flats but are still skiddish and not biting well..Only saw 1 or 2 locked in out of 30-40 bass we saw today... We caught 3 and lost 1... small creature baits in black and blue and watermelon did the trick today. Also baby brush hogs.
I found luck on drop off's near spawning areas...it seem like the bass that were deeper were more willing to bite...hit a few. main lake points and nothing...caught all our fish in the backs of pockets or really the mouth going into the back of pockets in 3-5' of water.... we tried catching many on nests and they would just swim away...they should be ready in a another few days to a week of warm weather...
